Q: I have never done martial arts before….can I still join?
A: Yes of course! Most people who join our club have not even done sports before. We are particularly welcoming anybody who has a keen passion to learn new things.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: There is no technical age limit in joining our club. The youngest are high school students who enjoy training with the rest of us very much. Primary school aged students are welcome too but we would like to plan in advance so please contact us.

Q: What equipment do I need to begin?
A: Nothing at the beginning except yourself! We provide Kendo equipment internally within our club, but you will not be expected to bring anything on the first day.
Q: Is there a joining season or beginner classes that start on a specific day?
A: No, you are more than welcome joining any time of the year. However as we are a university club and naturally beginners join with the start of semesters (March and July) – so typically there will be many new members joining at these months, and we approximately run a beginner schedule starting these months. That being said, we have many coaches and instructors, so no matter when you join we will do our best to look after you.
Q: Do I have to be a USYD student or even a student to join the club?
A: No, many of our members are both USYD and non-USYD students and non-students. As stated above we are more than happy to accept anyone keen to learn.
Q: Is there any way I can trial before committing to a 6 or 12 month membership?
A: Yes, we offer interested peoples up to 2 casual trainings (at $10 per session) to try out training with our club if they would like to do so before joining our club.
Q: Do you offer any beginner courses?
A: While we do not offer any beginner courses our membership gives members of all levels access to our 3 training sessions a week during which beginner, intermediate and senior students train separately and sometimes together.
