Hello everyone!
On Saturday, the 7th of October, and Sunday, the 8th of October, the 2023 NSW States Kendo Competition was held!
For those who are unaware, the NSW States Kendo Competition is a competition where all clubs across NSW come together and compete against one another, in individual and team matches!
It’s an amazing event and opportunity for everyone to play to their fullest with their learned Kendo skills and compete with one another from other clubs!
The event was split into two days: Saturday the 7th of October being Individuals, and Sunday the 8th of October being the Team events.
USYD and it’s competitors did amazingly well! We came first in all 3 team event categories, and many of us scored highly in the individuals! Congratulations to everyone who performed well and got amazing results, and to everyone else who competed in the competitions!
After the long two days, as a celebration, many of us attended a competition completion after party dinner, at Kohya Japanese BBQ! The dinner was a celebration of everyone’s amazing results, and was paid for by the club and Takayama-sensei! Thank you very much for the fun and delicious celebration dinner!
I hope everyone had an amazing experience at this year’s States competition! Hope to see you again next year!
– Makoto
