Four golds to finish the year!
The 5th and 6th and December saw the Founder’s Cup & State Championships of 2015. Traditionally the Founders (Team event) and State Championships (individual event) are held separately but in 2015, for the first time, they were combined to make a weekend of the largest scale Kendo competition in NSW.
As always the USYD Kendo Club sent in our best members to represent us at the largest and final comp of the year.
Day 1: Individual matches
Day one consisted of individual matches and we were off to a great start with Ioana Levins taking first place in the women’s Kyu individual comps!
Unfortunately we couldn’t follow through with the remaining divisions, but with a few places secured:

2nd Women’s Dan – Eri Sato
3rd Women’s Kyu – Anna Lu
3rd Men’s Dan – Kelvin Tran

Day 2: Team matches
After our not-so ideal first day we came out shining in our team events. We scored championship titles in all team events of:
Kyu Team – Young Chen, Kenta Kusakabe, Junya Ichinose, Jordan Saito Patch, Ernani Contoursi
Women’s Team – Mory Zhao, Eri Sato, Nobuko Fujito
Dan Team – Ervin Peng, Yoshi Goya, Tomonori Hu, Kelvin Tran, Yoshito Takeuchi
