The 3rd of December, one day after the State Championship, saw the completion of the whole 2-day event with a grading session for kendo partitioners from the very beginners to Dan players, and from children to adults. 28 members from the USYD Kendo Club also participated; many of them also joined the competitions on the previous day.
All participants showed fantastic spirits as was seen in yesterday’s matches. In Shodan grading, the members overcame the challenges from the requirement and managed to become a Dan player, starting their new journey in kendo.
It is also noticeable that even though the requirements for the grading within kyu level are straightforward for those who joined training all the time, our members still focused on well performing these basic techniques without carelessness. Four members made it to double grade.
Importantly, we would like to thank our coaches, instructors, and all seniors, who helped us a lot in training to make us improve.
Apart from certification, grading is also a chance for one to realise weakness so that it can be corrected in the future’s training; it also marks the beginning of the next step. After grading, one will need to treat him-/herself more serious.
