As announced during earlier trainings, there was a competition over the last weekend, which is the 43rd Australian Kendo Championships, the biggest Kendo competition in Australia every year that involves Kendo players from all states.
Many club members were involved in this event to test their Kendo skills or to help. Kelvin, Allan and Kelly joined the competition. The results are encouraging:
- Kelvin won the Men’s Dan Individual as well as the Men’s Dan team.
- Allan won his U16 division.
- Kelly got 2nd place on her U13 Kihon competition.
- Allan
- Kelly
Volunteering is a part of kendo study by which new players can better know the rules and procedures. This year, our club sent out volunteers with those from other clubs to ensure the smooth running of the competition. They focused on their jobs from morning to evening, recording the mark, counting the time, managing the ribbons, and so on.
Our three Sensei, Takayama Sensei, Fujisawa Sensei, and Konishi Sensei were also there to help; as Sensei, there was a task to be a referee (Shimpan), which required much concentration on one match after another.
All volunteers and Sensei were working super hard. Their work contributed a lot to the competition as well as to the outcome!
Congratulations on their achievements, and let’s not forget to keep improving by training hard!
