Hello Everyone, my name is Joe and I am the 2022 president of the USYD Kendo Club. I will be leading the 2022 executive team, which comprises of Tom, Kyte, Makoto, Suzie, Brinton, Abbas and Shannon. It has been a busy start to 2022 for this team, with our AGM being delayed until February and having just completed a hectic O week where we met and welcomed a great many new faces and Kendo friends to our club for the first time.
For those that don’t know me, here are 3 interesting facts about me
- I have a family property about an hour and a half south of Sydney in a small (well population wise it is small) rural town called Canyonleigh. Me and my family often visit here and be one with nature (though more often than not me and my two brothers are causing mayhem and generally acting in a way that most would consider unsafe…)
- I am half Japanese, half Australian. My mother is from Japan (the Kyushu island, from a town called Iizuka, and my father grew up in Glebe, right next to the USYD campus.
- Me and Kyte met each other once on a sister school exchange when we were both in year 6. We didn’t even realise this until we sat and were talking to each other last year at one of our club socials. I wonder what amazing information you will find out when you attend yourself…)
Well that’s all from me everyone, I can’t wait to see you all at our training and to develop our kendo journey together!
