Kishikawa Sensei visits USYD Kendo Club

Posted on May 12, 2017 by Tomo in Uncategorized

Over a period of three weeks surrounding the Easter break last month, we were extremely blessed to have the presence of Roberto Kishikawa Sensei, Kendo Kyoshi 8th Dan from Hong Kong, visit our club.

Kishikawa Sensei has left numerous achievements in the country of Brazil and continues to spread his influence across the world.

Currently he guides the Hong Kong Team as the Squad Coach, and is the representative Sensei of the Shoujinkan Dojo (http://www.kendo.hk/home/home_enus).

Throughout his life Kishikawa Sensei has many accomplishments across Kendo and in his life – one of which is reflected by his Kendo Kyoshi 8th Dan title.

He is also well known internationally as the first overseas Kendo practitioner who attempted and successfully achieved this grade in Japan, and has been officially been given this title by the All Japan Kendo Federation.

During this time he visited the University of Sydney Kendo Club multiple times and showed us a great example by giving us many opportunities to train with him.

For our club, having such a highly distinguished talent has been a great honour and wonderful experience for all of our students.

We extend our most respected gratitude towards Kishikawa Sensei.

We wish to have Kishikawa Sensei visit our club again in future, and hope to display our improved selves in future.
