The UTS Kendo Club held their yearly Open Shield Competition on 4 Feb. The competition followed a seminar held one day before by the club, hosted by two Hanshi 8 Dan teachers, Toru KAMEI Sensei and Kazuo FURUKAWA Sensei. In the seminar, the players learnt skills and knowledge from the teachers, and in the followed competition as well as future practice, they will test and appreciate what they learnt. Such communication will bring more improvement on kendo practice.
The competition has eight divisions, covering the players from ungraded to above 5 Dan. The winners in the eight divisions will go into final playoff and the overall champion will be determined.
