Hello everyone,
On Saturday, the 13th of August, we were finally able to have our much awaited:
USYD KENDO SOCIAL EVENT 2022
AT THE PYRMONT BRIDGE HOTEL!
Wow, what an amazing event it was, filled with fun, drinks and good food! The last time we were able to hold an event like this was all the way back in 2019, making it a fantastic change of mood to be able to celebrate the USYD Kendo Club in a more formal setting!
First off, a huge thank you to the executive team, club senseis, and the instructors for organising,
coming to and creating such a fun environment for a phenomenal event!
And of course, the amazing people who came and participated on the night of the event!
It wouldn’t have been possible without you!
Everyone came amazingly dressed – if we had a fashion competition, like we had in our previous Social Functions, it would’ve been very hard to decide on a winner!
This event was an amazing opportunity to enjoy some fancier drinks, and socialise in a more formal environment outside of the club – creating many opportunities for people to make new friends!
There were also many fun activities on the night hosted by the executive team, with prizes for the winners!
We managed to have lots of fun playing rounds of:
‘Movin on up’ – a crazy group cup stacking race, testing the dexterity of our club members – the team who managed to get their one golden cup from the bottom of their stack to do one full cycle from bottom to top wins!
‘Fast Charades’ – a fun, fast-paced group acting bonanza, where one guesser had to guess the words their group members were acting out – IN QUICK SUCCESSION!
and finally,
‘Paper Dragons’ – a real test of determination and skill, where members needed to twirl a whole paper ribbon roll around their arms – taking off like a dragon!
Congratulations to everyone who participated and received a prize!!
We also had plenty of activities around the venue – who could forget President Joe’s AMAZING Giant Jenga and Connect 4 sets?? They were attracting so much attention, the queue for playing them was massive!
Another fun booth we had was our photobooth, decorated and filled with fun props, where many members took hilarious and fabulous group photos, which we will be showcasing below!
On that note:

Well, that’s about it from me – I hope everyone had an amazing time, it was a huge honour and privilege to be able to coordinate an event with everyone’s help. I hope to see you all at another function soon!
– Warm regards, Makoto
