Last Sunday, our club hosted a shiai practice for some of the Australian national team members in preparation for the World Kendo Championships! If you weren’t aware, our club is sending 5 members to represent Australia to this years world kendo championships:
Women’s:
- Iris Somera
- Samantha Zhong
- Kelly Kishikawa
Men’s:
- Kelvin Tran
- Alan Kishikawa
The shiai practice event saw 4 team matches for both the men’s and women’s teams facing off against ‘team world’ – a mix of local Senseis and senior members. Both men’s and women’s team matches were tightly contested with wins going back and forth between Team Australia and Team World!
The World Kendo Championships will be held in Milan Italy from July 4th – 7th. Good luck to everyone representing Australia!
